It Never Hurts to Ask.

My time in Europe has been an eye opener to a lot of things and ever since I came back to California, I've been more focused on particular things that I wasn't as big of a priority before. Almost every girl loves to shop, and I think my cousin was a huge influence on that because she used to love doing my hair when I was young and I lived with her for quite some time. I believe that she was a huge influence on my growing wardrobe through out high school. Over time, I found myself accumulating too many pairs of shoes and running out of space for my clothing. But frankly, my priorities have changed drastically through out college. I still love to dress up whenever I can and I still obsess over a new pair of heels, but most days I dress extremely casual. I pick classic items over trendy items. The hugest influence to this change was because of how much more comfortable I am when I wear casual/comfy clothes on photo shoots.

It sounds silly to say because everyone goes through change and one year is never like the other, but I really can't believe how these past few years have played out. I remember the summer days that consisted of wearing oversized red polos and coming home always smelling like barbeque. Then it turned into having a summer where I could finally take art classes that weren't towards my major; they were just for fun and better my knowledge. Then finally a summer where I had to take summer school (ITS SO EXPENSIVE). I was always so busy during summer break, whether it be working at Chuckwagon, spending a lot of time with ASB, or taking summer classes. This is the first summer where I've had no obligations whatsoever. So this time I've fully dedicated myself to indulge and absorb into photography.

Every now and then, I'd take a trip to Barnes and Nobles and pick out several photography books to look at. Unfortunately, I never had the patience to just sit down and take all the knowledge in through books. Rather than spending hours at the book store, I take only an hour top and end up heading home. I've had a computer since I was in middle school and always spent hours just browsing forums and more so recently, Google has been my best friend (Yahoo Answers as well) for every question I've ever had. I couldn't focus my attention in book reading, but boy did I spend hours learning absorbing a lot of knowledge through photography forums, articles, and occasionally YouTube videos. So I found myself doing a lot of that recently... and looking at other photographers' work... and getting some practice in. I've asked several friends to photograph for me. Many in which I would not think they would say yes or I haven't talked to them in ages. But it never hurts to ask (something I truly learned when taking my first photography class).

In other news...
  • A portfolio website will be coming... eventually. It'll be another exciting project for me to take on.
  • I've decided which camera body I want to invest in... I also decided the next several items to add to my gear.
  • Does anyone remember those business cards I had? Well, they weren't really me now that I think about it. So I'm excited to make some new ones just to have handy. Which gets me thinking... what am I as a brand?
  • It's very likely that I'll be taking a photography class this upcoming semester.
  • On a completely unrelated-to-photography note, I got awesome curtains for my room. I had blinds before and it was making my room look so drabby. I am oddly obsessed over the presentation of my room and it's cleanliness since I spend a lot of time working in it.
Before I ramble any longer (Who reads this blog anyways?!), I spent time with Miss Judy Nguyen, just chilling at the park. Most of the time was spent just chit chatting, but here are some shots I loved that I took of her.
