Buon Giorno Venice!

If I could describe Venice in a nutshell it would be charming, gelato, and MURANO. I saw a lot more Murano glass than I really did gondolas. For some reason, I expected Venice to have tons of gondolas and I was surprised how "grand" the grand canal was.

I knew Venice flooded, I did not expect it to flood THAT MUCH. Our first night in Venice was a nightmare that vividly reminded me of the ship being flooded scene in Titanic. We arrived at 11PM and had to get to our hostel by midnight or else they'd cancel our booking. An hour was plenty of time... or so we thought. I knew we were bound to get lost in the narrow streets, but I did not expect my paper with the directions to get soaked and I did not expected to be trekking through the flooded streets that were almost to my knees. We survived and it makes a good story to tell.

I'm disappointed that I didn't take many pictures of the Murano glass and the beautiful San Marco Basillica. Taking pictures is my main priority when I travel, but when they say "a picture is worth a thousand words", it really is just a thousand or maybe less. I really suck at my words and telling stories and it's unfortunate because my spring break trip was one of the biggest adventures I've ever embarked on. A lot of times I'm torn between taking pictures on my phone solely for IG, taking polaroids, and taking pictures from my DSLR. My fellow travel buddies have probably learned a lot about me on this trip. 1. I love taking naps. It's awful because instead of absorbing the culture around me, I find myself taking a nap in the many hostels we've stayed in. 2. I do a lot of prior research beforehand on the city I'm staying in, from looking at the map, options to eat, places to eat, transportation, directions, etc. 3. I constantly worry about money. Way too much.

I've one UPed my game from the Amsterdam by taking more pictures and tons and tons of polaroids. I'm excited for my even bigger trip the end of May.
