Gosh darn this cute couple and their adorable as hell baby.

When I was asked to take anniversary pictures of my cousin and her family, I couldn't refuse. Going into this shoot in such short notice was just as nerve-racking as taking on the wedding. Why? Because my cousin's a professional photographer, and with that comes expectations. But the shoot turned out to be something completely different. My cousin wasn't expecting much and it was more so an opportunity for me and my niece to photograph. Plus, I got to ask a ton of questions about photography and the wedding industry and other sorts of things. AND on top of that, I got to play with my cousin's camera (something I wasn't expecting)! I was originally going to photograph everything on my camera, but in a matter of minutes, after fiddling with her camera and looking at the results, I fell in love with the 5D Mark III.

I had been contemplating for awhile whether I wanted to get a desktop or upgrade my body. For a good 6 years, I used my noisy desktop, until finally I got a laptop for college. It replaced my laptop and I was pretty satisfied it did. About a year or so, I finally decided to switch over to Apple (Although I initially wanted a Macbook for college), and I can't imagine going back to PC (Sorry guys). At first, it was a bit rough editing pictures on my macbook because I've always used Photoshop on PC for 8 years, but like most things, I got used to it. Editing on a laptop is not fun though. The tiny monitor is discouraging and images load and save slower, especially in RAW format. It seemed right to get a desktop now because I can "suffer" a bit longer with my current body and I'm taking a required graphic design class this Fall. After having a taste of the 5DM3, it was pretty much settled when I wanted to get a new body and what new body. I was debating between the 7D and the 5DM3. It sounds silly to compare such models because obviously the 5DM3 triumphs over the 7D in its abilities on what I shoot, BUT I do believe that having a fancy camera body does not equal to extravagant pictures. Did I really need to spend 2K more for better quality pictures? I could spend that money on some REALLY NICE glass. Guess what won me over? Full frame.

This past week or so has been filled with practice shoots and editing. Now that I have gotten many of them out of the way, I'm spending the next week or so to put together a website. Plus, I'll hopefully be starting work soon and the fall semester starts in two weeks! So both of these will be keeping me more busy. Sadly, I refuse to take my camera out to play as much now that I know that I'll be upgrading soon.
